11 tools to check, compare and set up a broker account

Spot red flags, verify a licence, count real trading costs and match an account type to your size. We show you how to verify and we never rank brokers.

Where to start

Follow one trade from broker to review

Not sure which forex trading calculator you need? Work down this path. Each step links to the tools that answer it, and you can skip the steps that do not apply to you.

  1. Choose a broker with care

Before you deposit, check the company, the register and the warning signs.

  2. Pick an account and know its cost

Match the account type to your size and style, then count what it really costs.

  3. Plan the trade

Decide what the trade must pay to be worth taking, and whether the plan has an edge at all.

  4. Size it

Turn your risk and your stop into a lot size for the instrument you trade.

  5. Check your limits

See what the position uses in margin, how leverage changes it, and what is left before a limit.

  6. Manage it

Plan your exits and stops, and know the cost of the nights and hours you hold.

  7. Stress-test the plan

Ask how the plan behaves over a long bad run, and what recovery would take.

  8. Review

Log the result and see where the account is heading.

Our forex trading calculators live in a browser tab. If you want the logic on your MetaTrader chart while you trade, we also make our own utilities.

Lot Architect panel on a MetaTrader chart

Lot Architect

Drag the Entry, SL and TP lines on the chart and read lot size, margin, risk, reward and R:R from them. Long and short, market, limit and stop orders, sized by risk percent, risk in dollars or fixed lots.

It does not read prop firm rules.

Tachi Prop Guard dashboard in MetaTrader 5

Tachi Prop Guard

Watches your daily loss and max drawdown against the limits you set. Monitor mode warns you. Protect mode can close trades and lock trading until your reset time.

Limits: it cannot stop another EA’s order before that order is sent, it cannot promise a fill on a gap or over the weekend, it does not guarantee you pass a challenge, and it gives no signals. MT5 only.

Both are our own products and we earn money if you buy. See all of our indicators and utilities on the Indicators page or on TachiTeam on MQL5.

FAQ

Questions about the tools

Are the forex trading calculators free?

Yes. Every calculator and tool is free and none needs an account. We earn money from our own MQL5 products and from labelled affiliate links to prop firms and brokers. See the Affiliate Disclosure.

Are the results exact?

They are as exact as the inputs and the model. Brokers differ in contract size, pip definition, margin rules and swap, so check the specification of your own symbol in your platform before you trade. Our methodology page explains the formulas and their limits.

Do the tools give trade signals or advice?

No. They are educational calculators. The Trade Signal Checker only checks the structure of a message you paste. Nothing here tells you what to buy or sell, and no tool can promise a profit or a funded account. Read the Risk Disclaimer.

Do you rank or recommend forex brokers?

No. Our broker tools help you verify a company, compare costs and choose an account type, but we do not rank brokers or call any broker safe or best. Where a page shows broker data it names the source and the date we read it. Terms change, so check the broker’s own site before you deposit. See how we evaluate brokers.

Where does my data go?

The calculations run in your browser. The Trading Journal and the Pre-Trade Checklist Builder keep their entries in your browser’s local storage on your own device, so export a CSV now and then, because clearing site data removes them.

Why are the prop firm tools about The5ers only?

Rules differ between firms and change often, so each prop firm page states the rules it uses. At the moment the prop firm tools cover The5ers. The general forex trading calculators work with any account.

Which tool should I start with?

If you only open one, open the Position Size Calculator. If you have not opened a broker account yet, start with the Brokers hub. Then work through the path above.

More answers are on the FAQ page. How our tools are built: Methodology. These are educational tools, not financial advice, and trading carries a risk of loss. Risk Disclaimer.
