New: broker tools

Check a forex broker before you deposit, then count what it costs

Eleven free tools to verify a company and its regulator, compare costs and pick an account size. We show you how to check, and we never rank brokers.

Check

Check before you trust

Spot warning signs, confirm the company and its regulator, and score what you verified yourself.
Compare

Compare what it really costs

Put account types, brokers and payment routes side by side, with your own numbers.
Start right

Start with the right account

Find the smallest account that fits your risk, choose an account type and see what leverage does.

See the whole route on the Brokers hub, or read how we evaluate brokers.

Ready to open an account?

Verified the company? Then open an account yourself

Run the checks above first. Entities and offers differ by country, and a broker may not accept clients from yours. These are our referral links.

Disclosure: we are an affiliate of Exness, IC Markets and Tickmill and may earn a commission if you open an account through these links. The order is not a ranking and not a recommendation. Trading leveraged products carries a high risk of loss and you can lose more than you expect. Confirm which company serves your country. See the affiliate disclosure and the risk disclaimer.

The risk workflow

From the broker to the review: eight steps, one toolkit

Many blown accounts start with the same gap: a trade sized by feel. Here is a simple order to work through the tools, starting before you even have an account.

1

Check the broker

Scan for warning signs, confirm the company and its regulator, and score what you verified yourself.

2

Count the real cost

Add spread, commission, swap and payment fees, then match the account type and size to how you trade.

3

Check the setup

Run a pasted signal or your own plan through the numbers and a checklist before you place the order.

4

Size the trade

Turn a stop and a risk percentage into a lot size before you place the order.

5

Check the limits

Know how much room a prop firm rule, a margin level, a stop-out, a drawdown or your other open trades leave you.

6

Manage the trade

Plan where the stop moves, where you take profit, and what a grid or an averaging ladder really costs.

7

Test the plan

Find out whether the maths works at your win rate, and how long a losing streak can get.

8

Review and repeat

Log every trade, see which session suits you, and check what a growth target really asks for.

Worth seeing once

Three numbers that change how you size

A 50% loss needs
+100%

A 50% drawdown needs a 100% gain just to get back to break-even. The deeper the hole, the steeper the climb.

Ten 1% losses in a row
−9.6%

Ten losses in a row at 1% risk per trade take about 9.6% off the balance. See how likely a streak like that is for your own numbers.

45% wins at 1.8R
+0.26R

Winning 45% of trades at 1.8R reward for 1R risk is worth +0.26R per trade. The same plan only breaks even at a 35.7% win rate.

Worked examples, not predictions. Real results depend on spread, slippage and how the trades actually come.

Prop firm traders

Know your daily loss room before the next trade

Our prop firm tools are built around The5ers plans, and the High Stakes rules were checked against a real dashboard. Three tools to start with, plus a Prop Firm vs Own Account calculator for the fee question:

Disclosure: we are a The5ers affiliate and may earn a commission if you sign up through our The5ers link, at no extra cost to you. Our tools are independent and not made by The5ers. Rules change, so always confirm them on the firm site. See the affiliate disclosure.

On your MT5 chart

Tachi Prop Guard

Our MT5 utility that tracks daily loss and max drawdown, shows profit target progress and, in Protect mode, can close trades and lock trading until reset.

It cannot stop another EA’s orders before they are sent, cannot guarantee fills over gaps, and does not guarantee you pass a challenge.

Our own utilities

When a calculator is not enough: tools on your chart

We write our own MetaTrader utilities. They are paid products on the MQL5 Market, and the calculators on this site stay free either way.

Lot Architect panel on a MetaTrader chart
Our pick for sizing

Lot Architect

Drag the entry, stop-loss and take-profit lines on the chart and watch lot size, margin, risk, reward and R:R update. Long or short, market, limit or stop, sized by risk percent, risk in USD or fixed lots.

It sizes trades. It does not read prop firm rules and it gives no signals.

How we build

Tools you can check, not black boxes

Formulas on show

Each page explains how the result is calculated, with worked examples you can reproduce by hand. The full list lives on our methodology page.

Assumptions named

Contract sizes, pip definitions, commissions and prop firm rules differ between brokers and firms. We say what we assumed and ask you to verify it with yours.

Honest limits

No signals, and no promise of profit or of passing a challenge. Leveraged trading can lose more than you expect. Read the risk disclaimer.

Independent

We are not part of any broker or prop firm, and we do not rank brokers. Where we may earn from an affiliate link or from our own products, the page says so. See the affiliate disclosure.

Questions

Before you start

Do the free trading calculators cost anything?

No. There is no account and no paywall. We earn from affiliate links, from our own MetaTrader products, and we may add advertising in the future. Each page tells you where a link is an affiliate link.

Do I need an account?

No. The calculators run in your browser. The trading journal and the pre-trade checklist builder save to your own browser storage, so clearing site data deletes them. Use the CSV export in either tool to keep a copy.

How accurate are the results?

The arithmetic is exact for the inputs you give. The differences come from the inputs: contract size, pip definition, commission, swap and rounding vary by broker. Check them against the symbol specification in your platform.

Are the tools only for MetaTrader?

No. We write with MetaTrader in mind, but the maths applies on any platform. Where a tool lets you change contract size or pip size, set it to match yours.

Do you give signals or trade advice?

No. These are calculators for planning risk. The Trade Signal Checker only checks the structure of a signal you paste in, such as the stop side, R:R and lot size. It does not tell you whether to take the trade, and nothing here is financial advice.

Is TachiTrade connected to The5ers or a broker?

No, we are independent of all of them. We do have affiliate links for The5ers and for the brokers Exness, IC Markets and Tickmill, and each page that carries one says so. The prop firm calculators follow publicly listed plan rules that the firm can change.

Do you rank or recommend forex brokers?

No. The broker tools show you how to check a licence, spot warning signs and count costs, with the source and date behind each figure. A tool result is a checklist, not a safety rating, and a broker may serve your country through a different company, so verify it yourself.

A result looks wrong, or I want a new tool. What now?

Tell us on the contact page with the numbers you entered. Bug reports and tool requests both help us decide what to build next.
