Trading leveraged products such as forex, gold and CFDs can lose you more than you expect, and quickly. Read this before you use any calculator, broker information or link on tachitrade.com.

Risk warning. Most retail traders lose money on forex and CFDs. Leverage magnifies losses as well as gains, and you can lose your entire deposit and, with some providers or products, more than you deposited. Only trade money you can afford to lose. Nothing on this site is investment, financial, tax or legal advice.

01Why trading is risky

  • Leverage. A small move against a leveraged position can wipe out the margin you put up. High leverage makes that happen faster.
  • Gaps and slippage. Prices can jump over news or at the market open. A stop-loss is not a guarantee: it can fill at a worse price than you set.
  • Costs. Spreads, commissions, swaps and fees reduce results, and they change with market conditions.
  • Margin calls and stop-outs. Your provider can close positions automatically when your margin falls below its limit.
  • Behaviour. Overtrading, chasing losses and ignoring your own plan cause many losses.

02How many retail traders lose

Brokers in some regions must publish the share of retail CFD accounts that lose money. Across many providers, that share has been roughly 73% to 89%, according to a BrokerChooser compilation checked in September 2026. Figures differ by provider, period and rules in each region, so treat this as a range and not a forecast.

This is a third-party figure. Check the risk warning on the website of any provider you consider, and do not assume the numbers apply to your own case.

03Prop firm challenges

  • You usually pay a fee up front, and it is generally not refunded if you fail or break a rule.
  • Rules such as daily loss limits, maximum drawdown and profit targets change, and breaking one can end the account at once.
  • Funded accounts are often simulated. Check each firm’s terms for how and when payouts work.
  • A pass rate shown by a firm or a third party does not predict your result.

04What our calculators and data can and cannot do

  • Calculators give estimates from the numbers you enter. Real fills, spreads, swaps, margin rules and rounding differ by provider and over time.
  • Always check results against your own trading platform before you place an order.
  • Broker and prop firm data comes from public sources, each with a check date. It can go out of date, and it can contain mistakes. Check the provider’s own page before you rely on it. See How We Evaluate Brokers.
  • We do not know your finances, goals or experience, so nothing here is personal advice.

05Past results and our own utilities

Past performance, backtests, demo results and screenshots do not predict future results. We also sell trading utilities for MetaTrader on the MQL5 Market. They are tools and do not promise profit. Read their descriptions and test them on a demo account first.

07Your country and the law

Rules on forex, CFDs and offshore brokers differ by country, and in some places they are restricted or unclear. A broker accepting you as a client does not mean the activity is legal or protected where you live. Check local law and, if unsure, ask a qualified local professional. We are not lawyers or financial advisers.

Some brokers operate through several companies under one brand. The company that serves you decides which regulator and protections apply, so confirm it in your own client agreement.

08Your responsibility

You alone are responsible for your trading decisions. To the extent the law allows, TachiTeam and tachitrade.com accept no liability for losses, costs or damage that result from using this site, its tools, its data or any link on it. Third-party sites have their own terms and risks, and we do not control them.

09If trading is harming you

If trading is causing money or mental health problems, stop and speak to someone you trust, or to a qualified professional or a local support service. Do not borrow to trade.
