Optional: start from what a broker page states

A preset fills the waiting times and the broker’s own fee as the page states it. It never fills bank, card or wallet charges, because those depend on your bank and country.

01The five costs hiding in one deposit

  • Broker fee. A flat amount or a percentage charged by the broker for the method. Some brokers state zero.
  • Bank, card or wallet fee. Charged by your bank, card issuer or e-wallet, or by an intermediary bank on an international wire. Brokers often state these are outside their control.
  • Currency conversion. If your account currency differs from the payment currency, someone converts it, and the markup over the mid-market rate is a cost you can measure on your own statement.
  • Waiting time. Money in transit is money you cannot use. It matters most for the withdrawal leg.
  • Splitting withdrawals. A flat fee repeated on every withdrawal turns a small fee into a large share of a small amount.

03Questions

Do forex brokers charge for deposits and withdrawals?

Some state zero broker fees, but your bank, card issuer, wallet or an intermediary bank may still charge. Read the method’s own fee line in your account area.

How long does a forex withdrawal take?

It varies by method and broker: from instant for some wallets to more than a week for international wires. The table above lists what each page states.

Why does the percentage fall as I deposit more?

Flat fees are fixed amounts. On a larger deposit the same amount is a smaller share. The chart shows it for your fees.

Is this the cost of trading?

No. It covers moving money only. Spread, commission and swap are in the trading cost calculator.

How much should I start with?

See the minimum capital calculator. If deposit costs take a visible slice of a small account, that belongs in the plan.

Do you earn from the button?

Yes, we may be paid if you open an account. It appears only after you choose a broker preset. See the affiliate disclosure.
